If so, there's quite a wild price variance for this.

Pretty much the same. Quality of grain accounts for some, but mostly it's a branding thing.

I usually eat mine cooked in skim milk with a little bit of sugar. The you slice half a banana into it once it's done and you're set.

I'm back on oatmeal. Great easy breakfast that gets you going. I had fallen into the "muffin or donut from the breakfast cart" trap in November and December. Bad idea.

Anyway, for those of you who make stovetop old fashioned oatmeal, what do you find is the best pan/pot to use? The one I've been using is causing milk to stick and burn, even at lower temperatures.

I discovered trader joe's frozen oatmeal. 2 minutes in the microwave and you have it. I am enjoying it very much.

TJs has the best price I've found on regular old fashioned oats, as well. I don't have a microwave.

I eat it straight out of the Quaker Oats can, with a spoon. Raw.

I just spotted this as well. So, so cheap buying in bulk. Probably comes out to like 10 cents/bowl.

I also recently got a fuzzy-logic rice cooker with a timer to use to make my steel cut oats. I've never had them taste so good. I use the porridge setting and put in 3:1 water to oats. Takes about an hour to cook, but with the timer I have steaming, delicious oats waiting for me when I get up in the morning.

I've found the texture of cooked McCann's to be superior to the bulk stuff, but it tastes the same.

Unbeknownst to me until last week, oatmeal contains a high level of purines as does bran. When I found that information, I stopped my thrice weekly habit of eating both. The next day my three years of right ankle swelling and right leg swelling disappeared. The leg has sstayed normal size and the ankle is only about 10% larger as opposed to the 50% that was noticeable to those looking at my fine shell cordovan wear. Gout and psoriatic arthritis are a beyotch!

I do miss the oatmeal, walnuts, raisins and honey! Also swiss muesli from Wholefoods.

Been eating it every morning for the past 3 weeks...about 80 more packets to go. I eat the instant kind. I usually eat that with a serving of meat, whether its canned chicken, tuna, or just eggs.
