What happened to Burberry?

My local Burberry ( Palo Alto CA) is basically a purveyor of tasteless
overpriced junk to clueless rich Asian tourists. That was my impression
when I recently went to the shop to find a current equivalent to my
treasured possibly 10 year old Burberry corduroys.
Was there recently. I concur.

I picked up a vintage raincoat on eBay rather getting a new one. I'll send it in to be refurbished.

Lots of vintage Burberry trench on fleabay at great prices if you're patient.

Got a navy trench for the gf for $86 USD last year and got a tan one for $250 USD and comes with wool liner.

I found the vintage Burberrys (while their construction quality is not in dispute) have low armholes which can limit arm mobility, e.g. reaching forward. I wonder if others have a similar experience, and can point me to something better. Maybe a different vintage of Burberry, maybe Aquascutum or another maker?

yes low armholes on those trench coats.
Is it perhaps because they were originally designed to accommodate heavy stiff
officer's uniforms? Norwegian government in exile officers World War 2 . Two in Burberrys:

Ridiculously low. I go up one chest size, so that the double-breasted version envelopes me, yet still the sleeves pull when I reach forward. If you forget about the armhole issue, then for whatever reason you need to reach in a hurry, you could end up bruising your upper arm LOL
