Anybody who has purchased a FW20 overcoat or polo, can you comment on sizing with specific reference to whether you sized up if you plan to wear the coat over a winter weight SC?

Two years ago I found that I needed to size up the overcoat to accommodate the SC. Is that also the case with this years models?

I would still size up looking at this. The burgundy is from last year if I'm not mistaken. I was in same boat with you, got the first run of the polo coat in FW18 in same suit size, it was great but there is almost no room to wiggle with a jacket underneath.

Here is a polo coat fit to show those interested.

42R lovat moleskin jacket. Then the 44 burgundy polo coat on top.

Welp.. yet another addition to the long wish list among things that will but hasn't dropped yet. I need to unfollow S&M and close down my Internet. I'm addicted and in need of an intervention.

While I love my polo coat, I still think it's too short by like 5 inches.

A shorter length looks fine on a single breasted top coat, but a DB demands a longer length IMO.

While I agree that it could be longer, I think it still works as long as it reaches the knee area. But ideally, I'd have it longer by a couple of inches as well to comfortably reach over the knees.

I'm tempted by the polo coats, but the length measurement seems too short for this type of coat. I'm surprised they don't offer long sizes for those over 6 foot.

I tend to agree with this and am pretty sure that overall length will be one of the dimensions you are allowed to adjust if you MTO a polo. Wonder if Rick will offer "L" size patterns for the polos in MTO?

MTO for coats coming guys
I've been waiting to see the MTO pricing and patterns before pulling the trigger on that dark brown OTR polo that dropped last month, which is choice. Its at the top of my list this season.

But I still have to figure out shoulders and chest, which dimensions probably will not be adjustable within the MTO patterns.

Addendum: As I was struggling with disassembly, moving, and reassembly, I couldn't stop cursing my own vanity, as none of this would have been necessary if I had actually done what #menswear guys claim to do, namely, to buy less and buy better. A guy who has one hopsack blazer, one gray flannel suit, one pair black captoes, one pair brown brogues, and a few white shirts doesn't have these problems.
As cavilling as the rest of this post was, I now come back to your addendum every time I’m tempted by yet another sport coat that’s beautiful and on sale. I owe you, @stuffedsuperdud, for the reminder to keep my closet curated.

As much as I love sport coat's, and everything S&M comes out with, I always want to buy them, but I have to always come to realization that right now I barely leave the house and I have always been more casual style so I don't need more than 1 suit or 2-3 SC's in my wardrobe. This is why I am glad S&M are coming out with more casual items as I can still support them as I love their fit. Currently hoping they come out with another Harris Tweed SC so I can buy that as missed it last season.

I'm 5'10 and the coat doesn't reach my knee, just above it. May just be my proportions.

Adjustable proportions like MTO sports coats would be dope.

I'm a hair taller and their coats reach above my knees as well. As I said, it's within my threshold but ideally it'd be a tad longer.
