Reupping after getting some pics: Gray is the contemporary fit, blue is the slim. On second look, the gray (contemporary) seems like it has a more noticeable collar/lapel gap than the blue (slim). Any suggestions about sizing up or down, or recommended alterations to improve? Thanks!
From what I can discern at this angle, I would definitely agree that the Gray is too big. The collar gap is certainly an issue. But notice as well the extra material across the upper back and in the back of the arms. If I was 6' 170, I would be erring on the side of Slim with Spier, not the Contemporary.

I'm not seeing the pulling or chest gap in the Slim you noted. In fact, the lapel appears to lay flat in the side picture.

Are you sure your chest measures 40? I used to be 6'1" 165 and wore 38R OTR (across brands) without issue.

Thanks for the reply! It's good to hear that you're not seeing major issues with the slim fit. Once I took the pics I felt better about it than in my original post, and I might be overthinking it a bit. There's some lift off the chest with the slim thats more noticeable with a bit of movement, but I'm definitely still figuring out what falls in the range of "good fit". As far as measurements, I've tried on suits at Nordstrom and suit supply, both places eyeballed me as somewhere btwn 38 and 40 though 38 felt too tight at SS. I haven't been measured by a professional, but when I did it myself I was pretty spot on at 40 in. Though it sounds like it might be worth trying a 38 and eating a return cost in order to dial in my size at spier and Mackay.

I would prefer to see a 38 as well, especially across the upper back. Even the Slim 40 in Blue could be cleaner. This would also save major surgery to the jacket via a tailor.

I'm also not convinced the shoulders of the jacket are as flush to your own shoulders as they could be (which would cause excess material across the upper back). With a structured suit, I err towards a close fit.

Be curious to hear what others have to say.

Just got few sportcoats from S&M in the last week and they are all fantastic with Full canvas construction.

Fox Brown Prince of Wales Check - Neo Cut (needed sleeve alteration, already picked up from the tailor and love the darker brown shade)

Fox Green Prince of Wales Check Tweed - Neo Cut (arrived today, a very dark green and looks very versatile to wear)

Sand Donegal Twill - Neo Cut (arrived last week and really like the texture and plan to wear it in Spring/Summer)

The second jacket has always been a given for me. I've just been waiting for it to either hit sale or low stock before I pull the trigger. Which I did during today's sale. The first one though, I haven't been interested in. Until I saw your pics. It doesn't appear as warm and loud as the website pics. So I pulled the trigger based on your pic.

The back is a bit messy, but it might be due to posture and could be cleaned up by a good alterations tailor. The front is more important and looks decent on both jackets. I prefer the contemporary fit. I would definitely not get a smaller size. If anything, I'd try a larger size and see if it hangs better with more room in the shoulders. At the very least, I'd try a 40L, because the jacket length seems too short to me.

I've said it probably a dozen times here: if Spier took pictures that actually looked like the product they're selling I'd have bought a bunch more things. But no. They continue to take the crap quality studio photos that don't tell us a damned thing about how the fabric/material really looks.

Thanks DP, I Almost Missed This, I Had To Look At It 3 Times, You Would Think They'd Go Back And Repair The Wording. It'S A Beauty!

Any Feedback on This SC, Full Canvas, Do you Find (conmtp) It To Be A lil Slim?

View attachment 1898051

See my earlier post #76,995 in this thread.

My pic wearing this full canvas jacket is a 46R Contemp.

My pic right below that with the full canvas Fox Bros. S&M jacket is a 44L Contemp.

Based on what I have, I would say that this jacket fits just a bit slimmer than other 46R Contemp. I have bought from S&M.

Sir, If I Were You, I'd Go Ahead And Buy The Remaining One, Sounds Like You're Going To Get Dirty, Real Dirty!

Ahahah this guy.... I like how my wild cocaine fueled orgy with very expensive Romanian escorts (that also have PhDs in applied math and are serving fighter pilots in their air force) is just another Tuesday afternoon for COACH @1st Step (Greene Jackal indeed!)

I'm glad you (presumably intentionally) skipped over any semblance of bottoms entirely...
No Need For Trousers, With Hookers And A Gold Finger AK-47!

Dicks out for Rick and his revolving door of customer service staff who work hard get to us stuff we don't actually really need ("I have this in stone and in cream...which leaves off-white, pearl, and smoke....")... eventually.

Edit: In case it wasn't obvious, the AK is chambered for 7.62mm blocks of more cocaine, laced with gold powder. No trigger disconnectors on my boat: 30 round mags only, full send.

I decided to keep the cavalry twill trousers but I struggle to find an occasion for them. As another user noted, the fabric could easily pass as workwear, but I'll never wear them for actual work- that's what Carhartt dungarees are for. The fabric is essentially casual in appearance but it's also too stiff to be really comfortable. When I want a casual fall/winter trouser, I'm reaching for my moleskins and corduroys. These trousers, sadly, may go unworn until the next time I ride a horse.
Okay I was going about these the wrong way. I've been wearing them this week with OCBDs, Iron Rangers, and a rancher jacket. So basically I just sub them in for denim jeans. I have in fact done some brush clearing and chainsawing with them and they performed admirably. Also they look like something John Wayne would wear and who doesn't like the Duke?

Wore one of my pairs today as well. BD shirt, v neck sweater, suede derbies. Threw on a suede jacket and suede gloves with a wool scarf while outside. Simple yet elegant.
