Starwood (the Marriott etc.) doesn't need to raise money, they have money like you wouldn't believe.

Another internet business I don't understand and/or don't see the viability of. It's basically an apartment hotel.

I think I'm finally realizing that SF has best served me over the years mostly by enabling my apparent desire to collect. Thanks to SF, I've got quite the accumulation of:

Historic Naval-inspired clothing
Historic British explorer-inspired clothing
Japanese denim
Scottish knitwear
Alden shoes
Kinfolk magazines
Italian toothpastes
and the latest- upscale desk supplies, including:

Italian paperclips
700

Japanese brass writing utensils
700

700

700

On the lookout for that perfect stapler...

I don't believe they will be profitable long term, as they have to compete with both the rental market and apartment hotels. The investors/owners of those kinds of businesses are often times multinational and can easily drive them into the ground.

Speaking of international self-sovereigns:

This sounds like the worst party or the wierdest conference of all time. Yes, complaing that Burning Man has become overly commercialized is lame, lost its "original meaning", etc,, is lame, but this is much, much, lamer.

I wonder if Further future has a lesbian orgy tent.

Most super successful Silicon stuff is silly and can only be explained by our cultural decadence. Economics can rarely explain success in the economic field, cultural shifts can.

I saw this one, almost projectile vomited. The Guardian is still the UK newspaper I read but lots of boring crap in there. Best article ever is from Telegraph though:

Saw one of my buddies since I shared my workout tips and he looked ripped as hell while I slacked off during the same period and went soft.
