I used to buy a copy once a year at the airport, which was usually their special annual rating of global cities, which I then used as an example of how ridiculous rating systems for cities are in the Global Cities course that I teach.

Real monocle readers get them for free in the lounge and tweet about how they picked it up there ans there are lots of good insights about how to navigate the localism-globalism dialectic of today.

Monocle is basically Thomas Friedman for people who bought the juicero instead of investing in it.

I must say, having watched so many fashion magazines come and go throughout the 2010s, I must commend Monocle for their staying power. Sad stores like Gentry or Inventory aren’t still around.

And working in fashion/design, there is a lot of talk between her and her contemporaries about the toxic environments they've spent their whole careers in (no matter what country or city) and how they're now in the position to make a difference and stop perpetuating that. So that gives some hope for the future, it will just take this current vanguard to do it.
That's great. It seems like allot of industries with a big sense of "paying your dues" just to get to the middle have weeded out those that might oppose difunctional ways of working before they get to areas of influence. Some may not be willing to participate or in the case of something like having to intern forever be able to pay the cost of entry.

Hadn't seen anyone post about it but RIP to Virgil Abloh, who was announced today to have passed away after a fight with cancer.

Though I was never a large proponent of his work, I think he stands as a figure that has done much for 'fashion' in terms of visibility, accessibility, and opening doors for those traditionally less inclined to have support.

Anyone got a great place for wedding bands? I’m looking for something like a platinum band, simple maybe with some burnishing. Silver works too

I used James Allen (jamesallen.com) for my wife and I. We both liked it because they allow free resizes, good prices, and allow you to trade in for an upgrade at the same value you originally paid. They don’t have infinite options like some other sites, but if you’re not picky you can likely find something.

What about white gold? I have a simple 8mm band with the comfort fit that I like.
