I think you ought to try to engineer the revivial of those trousers. It would be the greatest fashion troll of all time.

Also dudes were not afraid to layer the chest braiding.

Looks a bit like something from TheSoloist

Does anyone know if a heritage brand that does fairisle knits? Like an Inverallan for fairisles. (I know Inverallan makes fairisle patterns but can’t get stuff from them anymore)

I like this style from chamula (well, I’d like a pullover).

I’m interested in a more heritage brand rather than a fashion brand, if that makes sense. Along the lines of Inverallan, Kanata, or even Inis Meain. Basically specializing in cultural knits.

NMWA has Jaimeson's Fair Isles. They're a heritage company.

This is likely made by one of the Scottish producers (there's only like five of them left, and they're all heritage brands)

Drake's used to sell some, again made in Scotland

You could also check trad shops like O'Connell's, Andover, Ben Silver, J Press, etc. All of those will be made in Scotland

This lady's company isn't heritage, but she's "authentic." And she does custom

There used to be a bunch of one-off knitters, like Louis Irvine, but from what I see, they've all closed.

Did they ban you when you mentioned the Styleforvm?

No, Shannon actually said she remembered me and that I was super polite and caused no trouble or hassle.

Unfortunately she also said that she couldn’t make any exceptions for me. Styleforum really did a fuckin number on them apparently

Thanks y’all. This is great. Jamieson’s seems up my alley and I hadn’t even known NMWA stocked it. Hopefully they get some more this season. I’m really looking for a half pattern one.

@dieworkwear really pulling through as always. I had you specifically in mind when I asked this

The wool on the Icelandic ones is definitely different. It’s not smooth, has lots of fly-away hairs (more like wiry old nan hair then most woolens).

Sounds right. The sites selling them go on a lot about the specific qualities of the wool. Looks interesting for what it is.

How soft is the wool?

I got a vintage Icelandic sweater back in the day, and basically tried to give it a hair cut to get the fluff under control. The traditional Norwegian sweaters ("lusekofta") on the other hand, are rock solid and wear like iron. Different patterns though.

Edit, the Icelandic ones are also rock solid, but covered in hair.
