If you knew you were about to die... would you tell everyone?

Sort of connected to the "would you want to know poll." I ran into someone yesterday at a social event who confided in me another mutual family friend is terminally ill and in the last stages of her life barring a miracle. Currently she's at home with her family and 1 or 2 very close friends. He also told me to hold it in confidence. The rest of my family who are friends with her have no idea.

I know this must be an incredibly difficult time for the family (who were conspicuously absent yesterday.) I don't want to intrude on their privacy at a time like this. At the same time, I can't imagine that my family wouldn't want a chance to say goodbye. We've known each other for years. What's the right thing to do here? What would you do if it's you?

I'd take care of any legal matters, would tell no one, and then disappear.

Everyone likes a good secret. I would keep the truth from some and spend my time writing long cryptic letters where I alternate between showering good friends with accolades and blaming them for my plight.

I'd tell all my friends and family that I am close to and in contact with. I'd think at that time in your life keeping secrets just isn't worth it anymore.
