Heschung "Edition Heritage"

Hi everybody,

I looked at Barney's yesterday, and these Heschungs look not half bad - high quality leather, nice, refined last, surprisingly comfortable, Goodyear welted as far as I could tell (no stitching inside the shoe - I lifted the edges of the lining a little...)

Price is $380 on sale - is there any way they're worth the money? How do they stack up against Weston?

I have yet to see the "Editon Heritage" of Heschung, but usually the method of welting is indicated in the sock. Most of the time (for dressier shoes) they use Goodyear and Norwegian. In comparison to Weston... I feel Weston to be a superior shoemaker in terms of design, quality of leather, and finishing of the shoe.

The Ed. Heritage I saw are, IMHO, several notches above regular Heschung level in terms of leather quality, construction and last design. From what I saw on European sites, the price is almost double the normal Heschung prices (550 euros.) However, the sole seemed rather thin and that's why I suspected non-Goodyear construction.

I actually went ahead and purchased them b/c I really liked the design and my wardrobe is severly lacking in monkstraps. I'll try and post pictures when I get home tonight.

According to a recent Trepointes, Heschung is trying to establish a prestige line -- this seems to bear it out.

What do you think? Soles are channeled as you can see. Notice the requisite oval window with handwriting. Heschung even threw in a tin of their shoe polish, which is, as shoe polishes go, the yummiest I've ever smelt. I'm almost tempted to tase it.

Nice looking shoes. Heschung does seem to be moving upmarket. And with the prices you quoted, that is Weston territory. As for the construction method, I would guess Goodyear... although you can't tell from the inside if it was blake (since Heschung usually has a full leather sock). The welt stitching looks pretty close to the upper, so I would not think blake construction.... maybe Bengal-Stripe/Jcusey/A.Harris would know better.

As for the shoe polish.. see if you can get a tin of Saphir.. smell it... I think the same non?

I wore them today for the first time, and they are surprisingly comfortable and flexible, essentially broken-in from the factory.

I've never come across Saphir here in NYC, but if they make the Heschung polish, then it is very good: applied and buffed very easily. And the smell... I'm sitting here in my office and I can smell it coming off of my shoes. Rather an improvement over the usual smell one associates with feet...
