Bars in Denver

So I recently moved to Boulder this past month but have not had a chance to go out in Denver yet. A few of my friends are flying out to celebrate a buddy's 30th bday - we'll be going to the baseball games Friday and Saturday night - that said, I am supposed to be the resident expert...since, well, I'm the resident - but have NO clue which establishments to go to.

We age from 26-32, are single and are looking for cool but not clubby bars to go to Friday and Saturday night. I've heard "Lo-Do" thrown around but have not yet been to the area to check it out. We're staying a mile south from Coors Field at a boutique hotel.

We want a bar where we can pick up as well...this should probably have been mentioned first.

That is all.

Thanks all.

What hotel? Very little is good about LoDo, though there will be a ton of people out any night there's a game. Denver suffers from a lack of bars occupying the space between clubs and dives, but there's a bunch to choose from down there. For lounges, something like Jet might work.

Since you will be at a Rockies game you shouldn't have a problem finding a decent bar. The bars around Coors Field IMO suck, but to each their own. You could walk a few blocks down to 16th street mall and you will find plenty of cool (but not club) bars and a lot of women. I usually find myself at the Paramount Cafe after an Av's game (16th st.) - good drink specials, pool tables, etc.

If for whatever reason you find yourself near Cherry Creek, then the Cherry Cricket is a great dive bar and the bar in the Marriott next to the mall is pretty cool.

We're staying at the Curtis, a few blocks from the 16th street mall as I understand it, about a mile south of Coors. Game will be done around 10pm...just follow the spill-out then?

The Curtis is off 14th, which is a bit south of Coors in terms of neighborhood bar scenes. You're better off closer to your hotel for the most part, though some of the places on Market by the ballpark are tolerable in small doses.
