I think was for the NY Times Magazine, 2005. Photos by Willy Vanderperre.

Unfortunately I don't have those in better resolution. I have no idea where they are originally from.

Does anyone know if the tweedy looking suit in the Olivier Rizzo photos (the guy leaning back on the chair) is Yohji? I would really love to track down a quite heavy Yohji tweed suit, and this looks like just the sort of thing I'm after. Of course actually finding one for sale online is another matter.

yeah, that's a Yohji suit according to the credits. it's 2005, so you'd have to search quite a bit for that particular one. Vertice London will be carrying the plaid suit from this upcoming fall season. it's definitely tweedy. but not sure if you want a strong plaid.

Quick shot of navy blue Yohji derbies I just picked up. Been thinking about pairing navy with black more and more and trying to figure out what makes it work in some situations and not in others.

EDIT -

Yup, looks good. I think you're right about complementing it with the right shade of black. Fabric itself is important too, of course.

Yeah fabric is definitely important. I think a bit of texture adds a lot to blacks and makes it easier to pair with colours like navy etc. I really like it when it works though like in some of asobu's older waywt pics and some other places I've seen.

Solid look indeed. You mentioned IKKON as being a new stockist a little while back. They have their spring sale up with up to 40% off on a ton of Yohji.

i really like those shoes, great color and the leather looks really nice. maybe if you try and wear them without socks? showing the ankles will bring more relax element same as the open collar on the shirt.

wow, that look is killer man! What pants are those? I agree navy and black is lovely when it works, it's a matter of finding a shade of navy not too close to black perhaps and also - like you guys mentioned - getting good texture play. I love it though. What pants are those? They look amazing there. The shirt is great too, ss11 right?

Like Parker said, it's from the YYPH A/W 2005 collection. These are a few of the looks that featured the elasticised waists and belted ankles, in different shades of grey:

The fabric is the tweedy 90% wool, 10% nylon blend that were used quite frequently throughout the collection

It's quite rare to stumble upon this whole 3 piece set-up. The full suit came with the cummerbund that you can see in the last two looks
