Even the ones I've received that look like wood are just composite plastic.
Interestingly, just 2-3 years ago the Best of British Collection from Mark and Spencer includes very nice and heavy wood hanger for their shirts made by Drakes and outerwears by Private White

Savile Row tailors don't even include nice hangers. Buy a coat and they come with basically the cheap wooden ones you get at Ikea but with a name plate.

Most mid-tier brands I've bought from use thin, plastic moulded hangers like this one from Brooks Brothers. Note the inside is hollow.

Higher-end brands (Borrelli, Isaia, Kiton, etc) are often rebranded Mainetti. They look like wood, but they're composite plastic. Actual wood would be too heavy to ship.

I think most brands don't include a nice hanger because they assume you're going to throw it away. I imagine most people want matching hangers.

I suppose it's nice to get a nice hanger, but I agree it's far from the norm. I don't think I've ever gotten a nice hanger with any purchase.

Who makes the hangers you get with NMWA items? They are likely composite plastic but seem nicer than most I've seen. They are the nicest ones I have, at least.

Yeah, getting a halfway decent hanger with a nice jacket/coat is, for me, like getting a nice shoe box with some shoes: its a big part of the experience. Many companies could learn from Carmina, especially Alden.

That’s the only reason I use @Despos, his nice branded wooden hangers. I mean, his clothing is alright, but boy howdy his hangers are worth the price of admission.

Years ago, Primark has an in-house line of tailored clothing, which was made with Molloy & Sons Donegal tweed. The jackets were dirt cheap, although I don't remember the price (it was like unfathomably cheap -- maybe cheaper than the cost of the cloth itself).

Anyway, this caused a run among enthusiast guys on forums, who raided Primark to buy as many of these jackets as they could. I think this was before the days of Spier & MacKay, so the idea of there being a $300 or so sport coat was just unheard of.

The sport coats, however, didn't fit very well and some people found issues with the quality of the make. They did, however, come with branded Harris Tweed hangers. If I remember correctly, this caused another run on just the hangers themselves. Guys on Ask Andy went to Primark to buy the jackets, went home, and then returned the jackets sans hanger. Viola, free hanger.

Usually get cheap plastic hangers without enough support on shoulder area etc. but Ring Jacket and Orazio tend to ship fairly nice ones, whether they are composite or not i cant tell. Like below but usually without the felted bar.

Guess I expected more from Drake's. I own several shirts and one tie, all of which arrived nicely packaged. Heck, the hanger that came with a recently purchased jacket from Spier and Mackay was more robust than the junk Drake's shipped.

Why would you expect more? It's half-canvassed tailoring made by Lardini. Not even Tom Ford offers the wooden hangars (even for MTM purchases that are $5000+).
