Here are some balmorals I bought, always from AFPOS, as 'samples': they fit me really well and are somehow unique.

They are on the 109 last. I had the upper 4 eyelets replaced by speed hooks recently, much more convenient.

Your shoes remind me of my AS Wilson shoes:

I might only guess that my shoes - unnamed - have been somehow the prototypes for your Wilsons.
as I said, I bought them from AFPOS in the "samples and sales" section, as 'samples, no blemishes'. They actually aren't even labeled as AS, but they are obviously on 87 last.
Since they were really cheap, I adventured in buying them and so discovered this wonderful accomodating last for my feet!

The Wilson is an old model (from when they introduced the exclusive range) and on the 104 last so I don't think your's was a prototype for the Wilson.

Wonderful but I would prefer dress lacing.

I found that too much work when putting them on and ended up not wearing them because of that. So I have replaced the eyelets on all my boots for speed hooks some weeks ago and wish I had done that sooner.

You don't see them anyways and they haven't damaged my dress trousers.

Maybe you are right, I don't know ...
I cannot see any blemish in them and AFPOS was selling them as 'seconds, no faults' so I guessed they might have been a test shot.
Anyway thank you for the additional info

EDIT : of course the label was "samples , no fault" - I should always read my texts thrice before hitting the 'post reply' button ...
