I think affect is applicable as well because he refers to the fact that it elicits that "oh look at me" vibe. affect, noun 1.) Feeling or emotion, especially as manifested by facial expression or body language ref: http://www.answers.com/topic/affect The watch influenced his feelings about my intentions.

I don't even care any more, but at least during my years there UCLA won every game. '92 at the Rose Bowl was the sickest, John Barnes, a 5th string senior walk on threw almost 400 yards and threw the winning TD with like 3 minutes left for a 38-37 victory. I was watching the game at my trojan gf's apt on the SC campus and I was so ecstatic I nearly pissed all over her and her roommate.
