Is it the leather sole that makes the noise? To me it always seems like the heels that make the noise. You can just add metal toe taps, it will be a great investment and the noise will most likely be doubled.

Tell me these are not a ripp-off of Paul Smith, because they clearly are:

Weak. Still pretty damned expensive for it to have lost its handmadeness.

There are a few models which they seem to market as both mainline and Red Ear.
Yorks and Pinkertons come to mind. I don't think there's any real difference except for the objectionable Red Ear stamp on the heels.

I know the Tony boots have been branded both mainline or PS.
Marcellos, Cutters, Rollins have been branded mainline or Paul Smith Collection.

I think it's mostly on where they're made:
British Collection - England
Mainline - Handmade in Italy
PS/Red Ear - Italy

I wasn't talking about the British Collection but rather the Paul Smith Collection.
For example the buffalino Cutters I just got are mainline but a pair of suede ones I got are branded Paul Smith Collection. Both made in Italy.

The PS Collection shoes I have seem to use higher quality leather than the mainline.
However there are also differences like that with models within the mainline brand which leads me to believe it's mostly random as to the branding.
