I'd rather face a room full of angry Mancs than a room full of angry Raiders fans... At least the soccer hooligans don't wear metal spikes. Plus, I can pretend to like soccer more than I actually do, but pretending to like the Raiders is sort of like pretending to like torture, unless you are clearly insane, nobody will believe you.

What could be even worse is a room full of Australian Open tennis fans.

(ibra's goal yesterday had 'scudetto' written all over it.)

The depth of Inter's squad is freakin' ridiculous. They've got two full teams worth of stars. A couple of injuries won't slow them down, only a good case of 'Interchoke' can stop them from (really) winning the scudetto this year. I'm hoping it kicks in soon....

700 reporters are in the stadium to witness Beckham's unveiling.
ESPN say he is the biggest thing to come to America from England since The Beatles!

I guess the Rolling Stones don't have too much effect on ESPN.

I think I speak for the majority of the American population when I say that I don't give a **** about Beckham one way or another. I'm not planning on watching soccer because he is here.

Right now America is the world leader in entertainment making a good amount of decent movies, tv shows and video games. But has been notably lacking in sport, hopefully Beckhams arrival will be the first of many and finally revitalizing the sports in America.

What?!? You don't know anything about football, do you? And no, not the kind you play with your feet.

Ditto on the "Beckham what? I still don't give a **** about soccer."

I dont think Beckham will revitalize soccer in America. Hes come to America because his career across the pond is becoming washed up. He was never that great of a player...

Of course I know about American football. Judging by the way you talk about soccer it seems you have something against the sport.

I don't think his career is becoming washed up just yet, he's as popular as ever and was one of the main reason Real Madrid won the league. He could have easily played 1 or two more seasons in one of the top leagues after all Madrid wanted to extend his contract, when they saw what he could still do.

Nah, I have no ill will toward the game. I actually went to a DC United game the other day w/ my gf and her soccer loving friends. It's just that I don't think about it one way or another. Every four years though, I do watch a little World Cup.

Are you sure they wanted to do that because i thought they wanted to drop him like the England National team did...
There are soooo many players that i would say are better players than beckham
for example the whole brazilian national team...

Heres the link on Real Madrid

And the one on the national team

Its not that there are a lot of better players than him (there are) its that he is the most marketable footballer right now.

Say what you will about his general level of play, he is a very effective dead-ball specialist.

Other than that, this is about publicity before it is about winning.

I don't respect all the hype surrounding players like Beckham, but as a football player myself, I have to disagree with you...he really is a good player, above average in the arena he used to play in before signing with Galaxy.

if you sneak into the Screamin' Eagles section, you will very much enjoy watching the match. You can't make a decision, though, based on an experience you had at an American game. Go to any European stadium and it's completely different.

England called up Beckham just recently. Also, Brasil is the greatest national team in the world. I grew up watching the '94 team
