A handy knot for laces that like to come undone

Thanks for the links here! I have unending problems with the square leather laces on my boat shoes coming untied for no real reason. I've just tied a "Ian's Secure Knot" in a pair and we'll see how that works.

dieworkwear, Ian's website is indeed where I saw 'my' knot documented, and I did see the note about the unbalanced granny knot. I admit that I have been doing the granny knot all my life. I was never taught otherwise. I look forward to seeing if the balanced knot will do the trick on my problematic laces, and I look forward to one day teaching my own children the correct method.

Ian's website is great. I had no idea there were so many ways to lace and tie shoe laces. I especially like the part about aglet repair.

This was my first post in order to get to 2 required posts in order to PM a member on the B/S section, and I wanted to provide a little value, if any, rather than the typical first-two-post nonsense.
