What do you do with shoes you KNOW will never again be in the rotation?

I'm still holding onto more pairs of crappy shoes than I should. My brother's 10 lb. pseudo-dog jumps all over me when I vist and scratches my shoes, so I keep a pair in the car and another in the office so I can change before visiting. I think I need to donate my old Rockport and Nunn-Bush "dress" shoes.

Goodwill or trash. At 40 pairs currently, I have a self-imposed one-in-one-out policy. I've been sticking to it quite well and have almost all of my crap shoes gone. I did a purge over the weekend that sent a nasty pair of boat shoes to the trash, some decent (but oh-so-80's) Bally slip-ons to Goodwill and a nearly new pair of Bass dirty bucks is in a holding pattern in the spare bedroom.

I tend to think a man needs a certain number of pairs of "beater" shoes. I certainly don't want to use any of my cherished shoes for slogging through wet grass or damp sand when I am out with my b#tch for example. For that I use Clarks, Timberland, H.S. Trask, etc.

Then you may be engaging in some activities, e.g. painting, that will result in the ruin of the shoes. I think every prudent gentleman should have some few items of apparel he can see destroyed or otherwise ruined with total equanimity.

I'm also at the one in, one out stage of life. I have two pair of older Churches that I can happily improve upon. The tan tassel loafers go next, and after that the closet remodel had better be completed or I'll be stacking shoes in the hall.

That is a great idea. One other forum I frequent (automotive in nature) has an annual toy car drive for Christmas. Last time bought a few hunder toy cars with the donations. I am sure that we all have some stuff we can donate shomehow...

Ebay. I have a few that I need to get rid of. I just recently purchased two pairs of Yanko's on Ebay, but they turned out to be too tight. I'll probably put them up this summer.
