Kung fu PAnda vs Hulk :D
Nice grouping of APs. I like the new Sub C and the green dial is very cool, but I prefer the green color of the old bezel to that of the green ceramic bezel. Great watches...enjoy them!

Hi Stitch, Newcomer is correct.  I bought it new at the end of 2002, so its celebrating its 10th birthday.  This time of year I tend to wear my watches on straps a bit more since its cool and dry outside.

enjoy!

Of course Stitchy ;)

On a somewhat related note--I got the approval for my seminar paper today. It looks like I will be working on the SWATCH antitrust issues! Very rarely does one get credit hours for something that may actually be enjoyable. I want to get started on the back ground of it already... not too much on the legal analysis part :(.

Never heard of Vianney Halter before. But I like De Bethune, but aren't there watches pretty expensive 50k + ? Or is there cheap models aswell?
The Halter Antigua is pretty nice and inexpensive for the brand. Yeah De Bethune watches are not cheap, but their futuristic style is interesting if you like the aesthetics. One of the more classic independents imho.

Personal taste.

Generally, I'm not a huge fan of Pateks, but I'd rather have a 5070 than a Datograph.  As for the Datograph, it has a great movement and the quality is there, but I've never liked the rest of the watch.   A friend of mine had a rose gold Datograph, and he lost interest in it and sold it within a year of buying it.   The only Langes that I really love are the Lange 1s.  I'd definitely take a Lange 1 over any of Patek's Calatravas, Annual Calendar, or lesser complications.

Once you get into perpetual calendars or chronographs, I'd opt for a Patek.

No I agree with you generally. The Dato seems to have better finishing in the Saxon tradition. It is quirky where the Patek is conservative. The only Langes I am really enamoured with are the Lange 31 and Cabaret, but the former is too big and the latter a little too thick.

Actually after playing with a Patek minute repeater and a minute repeater from an independent, I cant say the Patek holds much allure anymore. Apples and oranges of course.

I think Vianney Halter are really creative, but too avante guard.  They make a statment, but after a while I think I'd tire of them.  For me watches with classic looks are more wearble and they will look great now or 20 years from now.  Some of Vianney Halter's watch's are really different, but they may seem dated and weird in 20 years.  But if you don't care about that, go for it.

De Bethune, nice but I've never had much interest in them.

What would be your ultimate 2 or 3 hand dress watch?

Mine is a 5mm thick Vacheron from 1962 with the ultrathin cal 1003. Still superior to any modern dress watch I have experience with, even the Historiques 1955 and Piagets which are not true ultra thins (not having a movement thickness of less than 2mm).

lol interesting.

Oh I forgot to answer your question a few pages back. I did indeed saw the Tank Solo automatic at Adler.

It is a really nice watch. I almost bought it when I was in Houston this past Thanksgiving week. I might pull the trigger in a few months.

Just a few quick photos from earlier today.

Very nice Dino. What year is that from ? I collect vintage V&Cs and just love the lugs on those pieces from the 50s / 60s.

Just noticed its from 2002. The movement is reminiscent of the vintage Vacheron cushion calibre 457. Tres beau!

Most of V&C's modern tonneau watches use round movements. Another reason to go vintage.

My coat check tag today was 007. If I was wearing one of these watches, I could have really impressed the guy behind the counter.

especially if your name was james. :)
