Just for fun: do you think a skilled cobbler would be able to reshape the block heel to a pitched heel like this?

Obviously, we're all different but, speaking personally, I wouldn't spend $1100 on a pair of boots that weren't actually what I wanted, and then spend more money to try to have them turned into something that I wanted. I'd just wait until I could find the thing I actually wanted.

Even though something may be on sale, it's not good value if it's not something that you actually want.

Can we learn without spending? I think a seasoned poster here said something like «I never know when buying clothes how much I will come to wear them». I guess I learn from my successes and my failures, yet I seem to go and attack new options that prove difficult to master. Yet I do get better.

Love the new thing on ‘Bookcore’, Derek, it’s definitely an aesthetic I can relate to. I think it‘s the kind of thing I wear for getting a coffee or a sandwich in my neighbourhood, or just generally running errands locally.

Sadly my local bookshop closed about five years ago, but I do live very close to a converted wool mill which houses a permanent Hockney collection and has a few cafes and interior design, vintage and book stores. There’s a definite bookcore aura about the place.

Can‘t believe I’m carrying an actual New Yorker tote here.
