I'm a writer, I'm married to a sociologist ... I feel seen by your latest article, Derek. There's so much freedom in this kind of eclectic style, and I've long been charmed by the rumpled academics who, though they could never be called stylish or trendy, clearly put care into their fits, which are infused with the kind of wit and critical remove that goes over the head of the average trend chaser.

Real question re: the book core folks you’re referencing. Do you think the majority are consciously crafting a fit, or do you think they’re just throwing on whatever feels good/right and not giving a fig? Obviously Boyer and others in the industry are not who I’m asking about.

Reading this latest post I couldn’t help but think of the GOATS of Bookcore Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland

I think what I enjoy the most about DWW’s writing is that sometimes you don’t even realize you’re reading an article about clothes and just get immersed in the storytelling. And then you get advice on how to pull off fits at the end.

I think this is one of the nicest compliments I've ever received. Thank you!

Not sure, tbh. I wrote that post with some personal friends in mind, and I know they buy clothes intentionally. I know they get excited about certain items, but I don't think they think about their clothing purchases like we do. I know one buys items partly because he's excited about the cultural associations, like "this sweater was made with this Peruvian motif." But I don't really talk about clothes with these people, so I don't know what really goes behind some of their choices.

This rings true to my experience as well with folks like these.

And to be clear, I’m way too sartorially self conscious to fully be one of them. Let’s say I married into it.

Klay Thompson is a very chill dude. I like this overshirt he's been wearing to recent games. Any ideas where it's from? I don't think that's Boss.

That's the one piece of outwear DWW missed which is the old leather bomber jacket with a pin. These jackets are never new and have patina that looks decades old. The guy on the right is exactly who comes to mind wearing one of these with a slight hunch.

I’m looking for some lounge type pants that I can wear around the house but also outside. Something with some visual interest pattern wise. So far I have my eye on the drawstring pants from L.E.J. I also liked DBF’s drawstring offerings but sold out in my size.

Any recommendations are appreciated!
