Alright guys, would like your opinion- This is the size 40 RMC N1 that I ordered after the 38 wouldn't work with anything other than a tee.. This allows me to layer with more, but now I'm thinking it might be too large everywhere besides the chest? If only there was an in-between size..

You may want to try the freewheelers n-1 in size 40, it would suit you like in between 38 and 40 RMC

@whorishconsumer To my knowledge the Navy N-1 is slimmer than the original khaki. Mine is a 42 and even though it’s a boxier fit through the body at the time a size 40 was too small when trying them on.

I’ve found I sometimes have to go up one or two sizes with RMC depending on what the item is which makes trying on or buying in person almost a must despite measurements.
true. I am a 42.5inch chest. I wear 44 in the Navy N1 and a 42 in the Khaki N1. RMC sizing is anything but consistent which makes ordering without trying on and no return option very risky without lots of research. ?

fitpic of the Freewheelers N-1 khaki green - excuse the ****** pic and dirty mirror
I am 1.87m tall, 78kg (6ft1/175lbs) and wear size 44. I could fit in 42 with Tshirt only, a bit restrictive but quite flattering fit. However I favor comfort so took 44.

with long sleeve T + shirt - a bit restrictive but not bad actually.

wit long sleeve T - comfortable fit

with long sleeves T closed - fit is comfortable, enough space at chest and hips

Maybe Tokyo store is doing way better though.

Same for Tokyo store, all the Harajuku area stores used to make at least 50% of their sales with tourists. Was there last weekend, it was quite busy but so much less than pre covid, but the area is empty during weekdays, SA are bored as hell with litterally nothing to do (so they told me).

They could contribute to this thread.

That seems so high in regards to tourist sales volume, but I can believe it given the volume of shops in the area and guys like me who will drop a lot when they visit. So hard to imagine those areas being empty, but given the current circumstances it makes sense. Really hope by fall things start turning around for the better.

I would not hope for anything to go back to normal, if ever, before 2023 actually....

I work with the big department stores in Ginza and I can insure you that 50% of their revenue come from tourists (foreigners mostly), the same goes for the famous high end street fashion brands like visvim, rmc, wtaps, nbhd...in their Tokyo stores.

Ouch, thats awful to hear unfortunately. I don't want to miss not traveling again this year so I'll keep my fingers crossed vaccinations go well and things improve. I do wonder how the big department stores like Istetans or Takashimaya have faired during the last year as they have such a larger footprint compared to shops like RMC.

Department stores across the country are tanking especially in Tokyo, only Malls like aeon or doing ok. The Ginza dot stores saw, still today as we speak, 50% turnover drop. Ginza is like a ghost place, 0 tourists and half the salaryman now doing teleworking, many small restaurants closed forever last year.

People in the U.S. where do you buy Freewheelers? I have long lusted after one of their leather jackets, but I have just as long been confused as to how to actually get them here. So I have somewhat not even tried and stuck to other Japanese brands.

That being said, I've been dying for one of their jackets and it's time to get one. Any help is welcome

Corlection stocks them: https://corlection.com/collections/the-freewheelers-and-company

And that's it stateside as far as what I've found online. In the UK there is Son of Stag, but I don't think you would necessarily fair better with import duties ordering from them as opposed to directly from one of the many Japanese stockists.

Any Japanese stockists you'd recommend? Part of this issue I had is many of the Japanese sites are hard to navigate and then I just quit.

There are many, I'm sure. But these are a few I know of:

Speedway: https://speedwaysendai.com/collections/freewheelers
Genco: https://www.genco-clothing.com/category/23/
McFly: https://mcfly-store.com/
Real Moon: http://www.realmoon.co.jp/category/18/
Mirror Ball: http://the-rising.co.jp/?action=item_list&categoryId=10

The first three I think were @Mghart and I believe allow you to order direct. They may have other recs as well.

Apparently it is possible to order from Freewheelers direct as well it just wasn't readily apparent to me. Found that out from Fedora Lounge just now. I just gotta wait till the next leather collection.
