The new unstructured SCs are very nice. I don't recall them making any of these in the past.

Is the armhole likely to feel a little looser due to lack of structure? I am waiting for the reworked armholes but very tempted to try one of these.

Is this the place you are thinking of? 700 Madison Ave Fl. 4, New York, NY 10065

Would you trust Alteration specialists to touch up a jacket? I think I would need to adjust the sleeve length, length of jacket, and maybe a bit of the chest as well.
I haven’t actually visited that location, Ive strictly used the Lexington Ave location (on the corner of 40th st). I would trust them to work on the things you’ve listed, fairly straightforward alterations so shouldn’t be a problem. I also think the quality from location to location should be uniform since they’ve multiple locations throughout the city.

When do you get to wear all of these f/w items? You’re somewhere where there are palm trees if I recall, no? Kudos to you for being able fit them in, regardless. Nice coat!
Indeed, I live in Fort Lauderdale and it's likely will never wear the peacoat here. 2 of our 3 kids live in DC so we go often.
We also spend part of the winter in Utah.
I'm selling my blue Zanieri as the grey fits me better. So will have one heavy coat.

Hi all, is a sportcoat like THIS something I would need to have custom made at SM? I'm unsure as to exactly what kind of fabric is going on there.

Also would LOVE something similar to THIS navy blue sportcoat as well.

The grey one is a pretty traditional herringbone tweed. They've done a few similar ones in the past, but none currently. Since we're moving into the SS season, you won't see any until fall at the earliest. They have several good MTO options, though. The closest match is probably the gray herringbone Harris tweed (fabric SKU: HMS-520153-MTO-J). This might actually be an exact match, as I believe that the Drake's jacket also used Harris tweed. Very warm and heavy fabric, though.

I'm not sure what exactly the navy fabric is. Probably some sort of heavy tweed, likely Harris. I can't find any solid navy Harris tweeds in S&M's MTO selection, but any heavy tweed or flannel fabric will look very similar. They have a few heavy flannels from Minnis.

Just pulled the trigger on the MTO VBC - Brown Slub Hopsack currently on sale for $398. Started with a non-neo normal sportcoat block, triple patch pockets, no canvas unstructured, and made the special requests below....wish me luck!

-Add 3/2 roll front buttoning
-Add swelled edges (1/4 inch machine edge stitching on lapels and pockets, like the American Sack jacket previewed by Spier on Instagram)
-Add flaps on hip patch pockets (no buttons, just flaps; chest patch pocket should NOT have flap)
-Only ONE sleeve button on each sleeve (placed where the lowest of the 4 usual buttons would be placed), and the one button should be functioning.

If you go the MTO route, I would personally stick with a Harris Tweed fabric such as the one @Imperatores pointed you to. You can always count on Harris Tweed fabrics to provide the perfect texture for this type of look (it's kindof "hairy" and rustic). While other makers make herringbone fabrics that might look about right from the swatch pics on your computer screen, you'll find many of these non-Harris fabrics to appear quite "flat" in real life, they can be a little too refined, and not have the rustic liveliness that you'll always get from Harris.
