Dorje, did you just think Shah was leaving that pic there to let us know that he's the godfather of recent purchases part II?

No, I thought shah was making El Bert an offer he couldn't refuse to buy that Jil sweater.

OMG, the confusion.

i am mentally so close to buying glenmorangie ealanta. but i've seen talisker 18 for the same price. i could also buy parkers heritage 7 (hope something) for $25 cheaper and support ALS research

i can't bring myself to buy angel's envy. just seems really overpriced to me

What about that oud oil tho?

It's exploded in popularity over the last few years and now every perfumer in the world has an oud-based frag or a whole line of them. Probably driven by the aromachemical industry, which has come up with synthetic versions that are very good and wants to sell them to us for as high a price as possible. A good oud is worth ~2x it's weight in gold.

It's incredibly complex and contains top, middle and basenotes like a composed perfume would and is not easy to work into modern perfumerie, so it hasn't been popular until recently because of the availability of good synthetic substitutes. This is something a real shah would undoubtedly be very familiar with... but to be fair I think shah tried a really good hindi oud, which is very unique and challenging. Possibly disgusting at first, but like a good scotch it will win you over with time. Borneo ouds are easier to handle on their own.
