I have a beach party this Saturday. I want to shed a lot of water weight before I go to look cut. After some reading the basic gist I'm seeing is:

  • Drink lots of water every day so my body gets use to shedding a lot, stop drinking the day of.
  • Cut carbs a few days before
  • Take diuretics

Still lift. Cutting now (and for the foreseeable future). Not fun.

Not bad. I see why people get out of dodge in the summers though.

I don't believe that's what he was asking. He was inquiring about completely changing the way the human body fuels itself by switching its principal source of energy.

Yeah, I dunno, I have no idea. I find a slew of authoritarian articles without the expertise to parse them.

I lost 3lbs eating complete **** within my calorie range -- the bemoaned 'as long as I hit my macros' thing, I think -- and am looking for something better as marriage just doesn't agree with my old dieting ways (basically eating Mediterranean, but with severely limited meal plans).

Stopped lifting (and basically any cardio) after taking several classes this summer to try and graduate. Lost ~10 lbs and gained some belly fat, yesterday was the first time I've lifted since May and my entire body hates me

There have been times when I have gone a week or so without lifting because I was traveling or sick and when I start to lift again the soreness is off the charts. Especially after leg day.

Hows NC treating ya?
I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'm loving NC as well.

I have a pool party tomorrow as well. Timing is pretty good as on Saturdays I do a long fasted ride in the morning, followed by my upper body workout. So I'm gonna be pumped and dry. Should be a good time.

Just ordered Adipowers in an attempt to add some kgs to my squat and take some stress off my lower back.

Have always squatted low bar in flats (Reebok Crossfit Lite TR for the past few years) so hopefully the adjustment won't be too terrible.

Also looking forward to doing oly lifts in something other than running shoes.

Can anyone comment on Adipower durability?

Been waking up with pain in my heels and arches every day for the past few months. Finally looked into it and realized it's probably plantar fasciitis.

I wonder if it's because I switched to Nike Free running shoes for most everyday wear. The timeline works out.

Any tips on getting rid of it?

Switch to a more supportive shoe, something like the New Balance 990.

Or if you really want to keep wearing the Nikes, get an insole with a rigid arch support. Superfeet Green would be a good option. They're $30-40 or so and you can get them on Amazon or in a specialty running store.

Also, stretching your calves several times a day is supposed to help alleviate plantar fasciitis. And try to avoid being barefoot as much as possible. Wear a good sandal with arch support or something when you're at home.

Good luck. I know plantar fasciitis can be debilitating and require surgery in extreme cases, so nip it in the bud before it gets any worse.

I haven't done much except stretch a ton, stretch my feet before I get out of bed, and wear flip flops around the house, and it's already getting a lot better. Still shopping for new sneakers.

The 990s are ugly and expensive. Hoping that something like the Air Max will be supportive enough. I never had this problem until I switched to modern running shoes.
