i saw that news that Lebron was announcing the exact date and time of his announcement to maximize exposure. my initial reaction was "what a ******* attention whore," but found out that he's doing it to raise funds/sponsorship for Boys and Girls Club, so he a-ok in my book now

The heat will be solid with Bosh. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to move beasley, although i doubt they can. what a head case.

if there are caps set up on a table like what high schoolers do, i'm turning off the TV. just saying. how annoying is a 1 hour TV special just to announce that ****. what the hell are they going to possible say for 58 minutes before his announcement.

that's really cool. Bosh is a good complement for Wade - he can post up and create his own shot, but also space the floor with his midrange game to leave Wade's driving lanes open. i think they would just need to sign a true center to take some of the defensive and rebounding pressure off him.

and i give it about a 1% chance of it NOT leaking by 9pm tomorrow. someone between now and tomorrow night will blab and the whole press conference will be ruined except for the boys and girl club who is going to have a nice chunk of cash given to them.

I dunno the truth in that, though I don't consider Amare to be that.

yah, i cited the recent champs and conference champs to indicate that the max contract in the nba doesnt just go to a player who is the best player on a title team. it also goes to a player who is the second best, and in some cases, the third best. and of course, other players on nontitle teams who are on the level with those second bests and sometimes third bests

under the max contract salary restrictions, lebron/wade/paul/howard are huge bargains. they'd be paid much, much more w/o individual player limits

the duhon signing isn't great. overrated defender, usually a bad shooter. he's def a backup/nonstarter though, so maybe he works out in orlando. hopefully being perpetually open will raise his three point percentage. contract isnt that expensive and can't be viewed as crippling to a team that i assume is already in luxury territory and willing to pay the extra cash. still, money prolly wouldve been better used on different player

does this mean no matt barnes? they dont have his bird rights

id take this duhon contract over whatever contract ray felton is slated to get. he's a backup who has perplexingly managed to start for five years. basically duhon level, but could earn twice as much

wait, i was joking about wanting to talk about the Duhon signing...the guy is complete crap as a bball player, although i'm sure he's a great human being* *although being a Duke grad casts some doubt on this statement

durrant signs for 5 years and $86,000,00+

that could actually be just as important as any of the other big FA movements.

Yeah, it's all good and fun. It's good to have a discussion on the net w/o bashing each other and that's why I don't mind replying back and forth. You bring up plenty of good points.

This is a good NBA discussion thread!

Duhon signing with the Magic for 4 years at the whatever he got was really expensive for that guy. Luke Ridnour is the same and he was asking the Lakers for only 12 mil for 4 years. Hell Steve Blake got 16 mil for 4 years and he is better than Duhon. I guess I never saw why Duhon is such a good commodity, I would have rather the magic just play Anthony Johnson as their back up. Orlando has 3 point shooting, but not much else. Teams that live and die by the 3 don't usually win.

I've watched Bosh a lot. The guy is Pau Gasol soft, even to this day, Gasol is soft (I'm a laker fan). People who don't watch the Lakers often, often say, throw the ball in to Gasol more, what they don't see is that the Lakers do and half of the time, Gasol gets pushed out of the box or get its stripped or etc. Please see Rasheed Wallace manhandling Gasol, this happens all the time. Bosh get the same ****. Bosh got a lot of points and rebounds because he plays for the Raptors!! Good player on a bad team always looks like a superstar. He isn't, he is a great sidekick. Bosh with Wade is going to be a good team.

As for Lebron. I hope he wins because at this point he is considered a loser. Yes the argument is everyone one is considered a loser until they win something, i.e. stockton and malone. The difference with stockton and malone is that they didn't call themselves "king". Hell, even charles barkly didn't toot his horn this much. Lebron is very very very good, he needs a championship to solidify his place in history.

A few things:

1) Durant will be a better player down the road than Lebron, Wade, or Bosh... Kid's only 21 and he almost beat the Lakers this postseason.

2) Bosh is only better than Beasley right now... Beasley could easily develop into Bosh's scoring presence later on, plus he's a better rebounder

3) King James is Princess Lebron

first of all he was pretty ineffective throughout half the series.
his team did make it a competitive series, but iwouldnt go as far as to say that they almost beat the lakers. we won a close game on their homecourt. we still had one home game at staples waiting.

No way Beasley becomes as good as Bosh. No way is Beasley even better at rebounding. Beasley has talent but he has a Josh Smith like mentality, dude looks like a pot head and a space case. No way he has the heart or motivation to get better. He will be a 15/8 player at best.

Durant will be great, but I don't think he can be Lebron great, and that is coming from a Lebron hater that respects his game. LBJ practically averages a triple double a game, it'll be hard to top that statistic alone. Not to mention all the records Lebron has broken. Again, Durant will be great but Lebron will be a step ahead of him, except for ungodly reason that Durant gets a ring before him.
