I can't read the article, but what's the verdict on mothballs? Do they work?

I can't read the full article either, so no idea if there's new info in there... But by al accounts, if you have moths, and put the effected clothes in an airtight container with mothballs, it will kill the moths... Your clothes will also smell like mothballs.

I think there is some effectiveness in suing mothballs as a repellants, but again, your clothes will smell like mothballs.

I was hit hard by those things once.
I've tried the pheromone traps, but they don't seem to catch much.
I've done two things, and I haven't had anything chewed up since.
I have thin cedar blocks I hang sporadically in the closet, and once in awhile I rub them down with cedar oil to refresh them.
I also placed a fluorescent bug zapper at the base of my rolling wardrobe.

Wow - thanks for the tip. The article's prognosis is pretty dire - you'll basically need Seal Team Six to deal with them.

Yeah, the article basically says to get used to them and mitigate as bet as possible.

Also: "(Chemical interventions, such as mothballs and pesticides, can help, but may not be great options for people with pets, small kids, or certain medical conditions; cedar chests, unfortunately, seem to be dubious solutions at best.)"

I usually wash knits and then keep them in airtight bags during the off season, but I was recently told it's not good to keep clothing in airtight containers? Not sure if that's true, but it does limit the options. I hate moths.

Clothes that aren’t in use should be stored in a container or constantly brushed. I’ve also paid money to a laundry facility to keep my clothes in cold storage.

This. And you’re not sure whether to be distressed because the trousers are gone, or sanguine because you’ve not worn them in four years anyway…

Mothballs give a very strong smell to the clothes, I use this spray with a more agreeable lavender scent, Recozit Motten Spray Lavendel.
