Hey everyone. I'm doing a project in an entrepreneurship class that is on the subject of a value chain. A value chain is basically picking a product and then tracing its components backwards to their origin points and finding out where value was added or the price was jacked up in the various stages of development.
Because I thought jeans were an interesting topic, I chose just a standard pair of jeans, we'll just say Levi's. They're made up of 4 different components (denim, buttons, rivets/zipper, and thread). I found that the average pair of jeans uses about 1.75 yards of denim, but I have NO CLUE where to find how much that denim costs for Levi's to purchase, and, on top of that, how much the cotton costed to make that 1 and 3/4 yard of denim.
Does anyone have any insight in terms of industry knowledge or a place I should be looking?
Thanks everyone, I appreciate it.
