That's a terrible idea. The green you observe is just the oxidation of the copper in brass. There's a shiny layer of brass under that, just rub it with a rag for a couple of minutes every 6 months. A toothbrush will also get rid of it. Don't put vinegar or any other acid on it.Sorry by solution I meant chemically like a liquid or otherwise that would dissolve it. Vinegar?
