I was perusing the thread on v-necks, and it confirms the uselessness of turning to some phantom internet community for "advice". Here is a profile of the typical Styleforum member: 1. male, between 18 and 30 2. affluent, or with access to credit cards which allow for extravagant spending over the short term 3. very thin 4. extremely sensitive emotionally, evident in the form of name calling on the internet, and trying to gain some illusory sense of status through internet sarcasm 5. a strong tendency to favor "classic" or timeless styles 6. a taste for understatement and staying below the "radar" 7. a sense of self esteem based upon gaining the approval of a phantom internet message board 8. 50% of board members are gay, bisexual, or in process of sexual experimentation or 'coming out' 9. Try hard attempts to recycle "yo momma" jokes (see xchen's pathetic attempt here: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...25#post1950525) 10. advocates buying overpriced clothing, such as $400 shirts, because he believes it will fill the empty space of his soul which should contain his self esteem... In other words, these are young, insecure men who are trying to gain a sense of approval and identity by spending many thousands of dollars on clothes, but are unable to gain an enduring sense of self confidence, hence leading to more spending, more name calling and more shopping in an endless cycle. It's rather sad, but often amusing to watch in it's relentless futility.

You forgot that most of them are chronically single and socially awkward, but nice list.

ham fisted troll attempt is ham fisted.

Well written and generally true but ham fisted none the less.

EDIT: in the sense of being helpful, I would attach the most recent picture of Xchen from the WAYWT thread. It's excellent case in point for your entire diatribe.

Well....yes you are, aren't you. The original post is hilarious and I expect there will be quite a few posts agreeing with it on a kind of "this is true....except for me" basis.

Yet we all know that people with high self-esteem, self-worth, and purpose in life compose long, acerbic posts on phantom internet message boards.

well, true. Some of the most obviously best dressed people i've seen are also the most socially awkward. You'll find nerds for almost anything.

I guess you are new to the internets, then.

The entire post is true, but I don't see why this is some great epiphany for you. Have you not seen any other enthusiast message board?

Edit yea this is that guy in jet's sig. Man Im new to the internet, too. got trolled

Geez, it sure sucks being a young guy who can afford nice things, is in shape, has a sense of sarcasm, dresses timelessly, and isn't ostentatious! I'm going to go get fat and buy some bape clothes and nike dunks so that guys on the internet stop approving of me. It like, transcendence, man!
