I don't know that you asked a question.Well OK so this is like math class: if I get the right answer but didn't do the work right does it matter? (You still haven't said yes or no)
Second, I don't know what second rate university you went to, but in most of my classes, you got a big fat 0 if you got the answer wrong, and if you got it right, than the prof would start docking marks for incorrect work along the way. That was for engineering school - the rationale is that if you go the answer incorrect, no matter what you did, it was ****, and if you got to the right answer the wrong way, it was still ****.
The exception were upper divison math courses, where much of the grade depended on the coherency of your argument.
