To be fair, this post was about nothing. After reading all the crap people were posting about Pollack, modernism, etc., I just felt like a little babble was in order. I put "feminist" and "art" into google and then "feminism" and "art" into google, clicked on images, looked at a few of the links and then threw whatever came to mind into the post. In all honesty, I was disappointed in how quickly the meaningless was noticed. I should have spent another few minutes righting some better nonsense.

No doubt. Much of what is proclaimed as "feminist" art is overtly sexual. A lot of men make purposefully phallic works of art as well. I'm just saying that there's nothing biological about women specifically that makes them feel like the have to paint vaginas.

Women are, overall, the disenfranchised minority of the art world, it is quite natural that a good portion of them will tend to group under the banner of feminity and produce art works that can be labeled as "feminist art". It would actually be pretty disconcerting of no one was tackling that particular problematic. Of course labels are often limiting, I'm just saying that due to the specific situation it is quite appropriate to approach their position using that angle.
