After this first wear (I tend to shuffle). Is there anything can be or should be done in this case?

What will happen if I don't? Shoes are not super expensive.

just sayin ..

forget the gemming and the fact it's from EG.

not a rule, i know of. e.g. the alden, g&g, carmina etc. have a heel counter, too.

probably i cannot put my finger on it. the mix of different stitching patterns doesn't help.

The damage will get worse and worse. Sunken toe taps are not expensive to have installed, but not all cobblers can do it well. If your cobbler can't do it, you can have regular toe taps (metal or rubber) installed for around $20.
