Anyone have any pics of soles & logos from Alden in the 1950's (I believe these are from that era). edit: I was wondering about that & had a fear they were actually something else. Turns out they are the store brand from the "Aldens" department store from the 1950's. Still pretty nice shoes, I think. Solid & sturdy 'boats.

There was a shoe brand named "Aldens" which were not related to our beloved "Alden". (As there are now shoes branded Lobbs which are not Lobb.) I once mistakenly bought a vintage pair of nos "Aldens" longwings which were made of Corfam. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Apparently they also made some womens' shoes...

Getting ready for summer, thought I would pick up a new pair of loafers... What have we here a box of Aldens? Mmmm... Navy.
These are extremely cool. What's the model and who sells them?
Send me a PM if you want to know, and I will see what I can do.
You mean they're not from George Bass in New Orleans & Baton Rouge?

Very nice, even if they're Alden's, not Aldens. Can you post a shot of the sockliner please?

Ha, that they are, nice detective skills.
I couldn't resist...you were playing so coy with the vendor when it's right on the sockliner. Regardless, they're sweet. I'd get a pair myself if I could wear the flex sole.

Why can't you wear a flex sole? And the only reason I did not want to 'reveal' the vendor is because I am not certain that they want a bona fide beacoup of e-commerce; it is not because I wanted to be tricky. Regardless, I love the flex sole, and the unlined aspect of it really sold me.

    You don't like the Dover?

    exactly, a misconcept alltogether.

We all know that you love Vass et al, but your constant comparison and dishing others, especially when not asked, is really really tiresome.

    noted.

you should better take care of your own dishings, seriously!!! ...and you probably don't know what kind of relationship moo and i have, though.

I respect the authenticity of your shoe philosophy, but I still don't get what u don't like about it. Is there a rule u can't have a counter on an NST? Apart from that it ticks Fritzl boxes - doesn't it? hand-stitching, solid sole sans fancy-schmancy fiddles and bevels, definitely not a ' ballet shoe'. and it's got history and heritage. Sure it's gemmed, but so's every other EG.
    just sayin ..
