They are Joseph Cheaney "Highgrove", in CHF 550.-- at full retail price, i.e. around USD 600.--.

It looks black but I have seen navy shell IRL. Awesome alternative to black,

I'd have sunken toe taps installed.

Thanks, have just looked them up!
What will happen if I don't? Shoes are not super expensive.

I respect the authenticity of your shoe philosophy, but I still don't get what u don't like about it. Is there a rule u can't have a counter on an NST? Apart from that it ticks Fritzl boxes - doesn't it? hand-stitching, solid sole sans fancy-schmancy fiddles and bevels, definitely not a ' ballet shoe'. and it's got history and heritage. Sure it's gemmed, but so's every other EG.
    just sayin ..

forget the gemming and the fact it's from EG.

not a rule, i know of. e.g. the alden, g&g, carmina etc. have a heel counter, too.

probably i cannot put my finger on it. the mix of different stitching patterns doesn't help.

The damage will get worse and worse. Sunken toe taps are not expensive to have installed, but not all cobblers can do it well. If your cobbler can't do it, you can have regular toe taps (metal or rubber) installed for around $20.
