Most sheepskins worn by the Originals would be cheap made up stuff from Street markets , Like Church St, Paddington, Petticoat Land E London, Very rare would a lad have a Genuine Sheepskin. Some lads would make the mistake and dig out one from Mum or Dads wardrobe, They would only wear it once because the piss would be taken out of them.
The Skinhead Sheepskin would be single breasted, 4 buttons, fairly small collar, Skinheads liked to wear them a size up to look big, and turn the cuffs up to look extra cool.

I never had a sheepskin because i would not wear a cheap market copy, A genuine one I could not afford at the time, so i went without. I have one now cost me a fortune.

Thats the one MoM. Could be a bit longer 3 quarter length, but one cant have everything lol

Excellent post, just the kinda thing I was hoping for re-criticism on posted pics. I also really liked that anecdote about Slade and how M-o-M would point out to them just exactly where they got the style wrong.

I know it's a daft question, but did you originals (we must find a better term) evolve from being mods? By the sound of it you were, but did anyone come in 'cold'? (Because they liked the look/music/ and let's be honest - aggro?)

When the fashion sort of developed for me in early 68 all we wore was Boots, Dickies jeans, or jungle greens, Then later braces, We was just kids, the name Skinhead was not known.
When we started to dress smart 69, for me when i left school and started work, I just looked around me at the older lads, and copied them, I was 15 in 69, Their was a Mod influence and i was aware of it at the time as my Brother was a original Mod, I often would wear some of his old kit like cardigans, John Smedley style tops etc. Also wearing a suit and tie came from the Mods, Although the Skinhead suit was different to the Mod suit. In my opinion The smart Skinheads was way smarter than the Mods.
