Nice pictures. I don't have a particular manufacturer in mind, but a model: as plain as it gets. Steinhart, Stowa and Archimede are currently on my list... the Archimede is my favourite so far, as it comes in a smaller size (39 or 42mm, I'm not sure yet) and isn't as pricey as the Stowa.
If anyone has other suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

Good to hear, esp. from you. I was a little worried that watch fans wouldn't like the idea since natos are traditional on diver's watches (or am I wrong here?).

Gotta be careful with the NATO straps if you get a large watch.

I purchased a black 24-mm NATO to use with my 38-mm LUM-TEC and it's a very tight fit. Makes the watch sit a little cock-eyed. Thinking I may have to try another strap that's a tad larger.

The NATO feels really nice though. It's comfortable and doesn't make me sweat. It gives the whole watch a very nice stealth look.

Is there a sure way of knowing what strap size i can get for my watch...I never bought a strap from a different company than the watch maker so i have no idea

All you need is the lug width. If its a famous watch then someone will probably make an identical strap "style".

Quite simple; the zulu is thicker, has more texture and hardware that is rounded and heavier. Most of the time it lacks the "flap" on the NATO that secures the watch to the strap.

Hi, as an addendum to the advice already given, straps are usually sized in mm, with even increments the most common.

If a strap seller asks you what size you need, the width between the lugs will put you on the right track.

After the width between the lugs is established, it will then be your choice of what size you want the buckle end to be.

This determines the amount of taper the strap has from lugs to the back of the wrist.

If it's a dress watch, 2mm or 4mm smaller than the lug size is the norm. (2mm for medium+ wrists, 4mm for medium- wrists)

Make sure the person changing your strap retains the buckle from your old branded strap and installs it onto your new strap. The branded buckle itself--solid gold or not--can be worth a bundle.

Don't forget the length of the strap - short, regular, long, extra long!
