Shh. Don't let my secret out. FWIW, I don't buy the apologetics NYR is trying to sell, and that has nothing to do with foo. I only make like 5 MC posts a year, so I can't possibly defend him all the time. The idea that this is just part of the game is silly. Providing good service means providing honest service. Slow is fine, obfuscating is not. Artisan or banker or teacher, all the same. Anyhoo, Salvatore owes me no pants, though I am not at all happy with how he is doing business right now. I did talk to him last week, but apparently without a lot of success. Now, I don't imagine anybody here has spent more time with Salvatore than I have, and I am fond of him, but he needs to get his ass in gear, and his act together, and were I out pants, or were I a new client or whatever, I would be spitting mad, so I am sure as hell not going to defend him.

You know, confining yourself to Brooklyn's best does have its disadvantages, one of them being a very distinct commercial provincialism. Just because you cannot imagine your own tailor being backlogged to the point where he cannot complete orders by the regular time does not mean it doesn't happen. Point in fact, my last two orders from Rubinacci were uncharacteristically slow to finish. However, Mariano told me upfront it would be a longer wait than usual due to ramped up business. Also, perhaps more importantly, they didn't take any money from me. And yes, to speak in your parlance, I was "cool with it."

Finally, I may not have tried all of the "best" and most expensive guys, but I also think your claim that "no one" puts as much handwork into a pair of pants is also a bit erroneous.

I've shown mine. You show yours and prove me wrong.
