In the WAYWT thread they're more open to that kind of stuff. In the rest of the forum, people call everything **** unless it is as boring and loose as possible. Also the best MC poster ever was incontro. Did MC perfectly, but his streetwear also was way too perfect, ironed and creased jeans... it's like that episode of Pete and Pete with the underwear inspector, sometimes things have to be messy to be right!

You are sadly mistaken. Matching shirts, ties, squares and shoes is a challenge...as is getting a suit that fits nicely. It is much more difficult than you think.

Nobody's saying it isn't difficult to do a great suit look, but at the end of the day it's much more "paint by numbers" than a solid casual look, which has virtually limitless options.

Yes, how ridiculous that would be. Phat Guido, Manton, Foo (though sometimes doesn't show enough cuff), Vox, and Aeglus all do good MC. Just because MC doesn't know how to do SW doesn't mean SW doesn't know how to do MC (at least, the SW people who can do SW)

If your in good shape getting a suit to fit well isn't hard, I did MC for about a year before I started going on SW&D. I've wasted **** loads of money on pocket squares, all you really needs a white linen one and one with a design you like, I only ever wore a black grosgrain lanvin one or a yellow silk ferregammo one, all the others were just a waste of money. Shoes are pretty easy, mine aren't as high end as some of style forum, just a few pairs of churchs and c&j, but with dark suits you can always go black or grey and with navy dark brown looks good. I never went for lighter shades of brown. I never really cared about more dressed down MC fits, just business wear and as long as it fits well, its a pretty easy formula.

I find there is less tolerance for an error range in terms of sizing in MC - the narrower options mean everything has to be right within a quarter of an inch to meet standards.

Anyway someone start the counter thread, I will participate.

But it can so often result in a fail of epic proportions. There are equally as many ugly ties as there are ugly T-Shirts, for example. It is just as easy to say something to the effect of, "throw on some selvedge, boots and a hoody and you have a solid SW&D look" is it is to say a suit is paint by numbers. Add the SC and pants look into the equation and it is even more complex.

My main point is that to do either a cool MC look, or a cool SW&D look takes practice and work. They both have their own set of rules, and neither is just a cake walk.

Go look at WAYRN and see how many epic fails there are on something as "easy" as a suit...some at prices that would stock a SW&D wardrobe. I have had epic fails myself. It is a constant process.

I am not putting you'all down, I like what you do. I am just saying please don't belittle us because a suit is a "uniform," it is not that simple.
