I know there are grips of tie Appreciation threads here, but I figured I'd just plop my own amongst them.

Instead of writing a paper for my Politics of Italy class I decided to waste time, as usual. Since I already ruined most of my Friday night toying with my new D90, I thought I may as well give it a spin on some SF shots instead of starting the paper. And since the Saks sales had been so good to me (only on ties) they were the obvious choice on what to post. Picked up 3 Charvets, 4 Polo (made in Italy) & 2 Valentinos (not all pictured).

... I'm trying to remember how to use a camera in a somewhat decent way, so I was toying with depth of field, exposures, composition etc. so the pics are kinda different. The last one sucks btw... enjoy either way

I've yet to see a tie on this thread that I'd even consider wearing.

Daneel you have got some realy naff retro ties there. Mixed in with what I consider even worse 1960s and 70s pensioners ties........

Sorry chaps....not my cup of Assam at all.

I saw a couple that I did like, such as the light yellow with the floral motif, but Daneel seems to like strong geometric patterns far more than I do. As you say, to each his own and thanks to him for sharing!

I didn't want to be cruel, but since everyone else is, I might as well pile on. The OP's ties are not my cup either, but I can see the appeal, and I like the artistry of the photos. The second group looks like a hospital thrift store, or the rack that some dry cleaners put out for sale -- stuff that was left there over the years, presumably by guys who have died, moved, or hit on such hard times they cannot afford their bill.

I guess it's a good thing I have a thick skin. Let me take a couple of pictures of my favourites and see if it changes anyone's mind.

I really like these ties. I love ties, but finding a tie I like is like picking a needle in a haystack for me.
