More TIE Appreciation

The pictures I posted at first are a bit out of date, I've given away about 10-15 because I didn't wear them.

The gold one looks alright - although in honesty I think most members prefer ties that are less "busy". It seems to be your style, and depending on what your whole ensemble looks, I don't doubt you can pull it off.

I tend to wear a plain suit and plain shirt, so the tie can be busy without people going dizzy by looking at me

Let's try two of my other favourite ties with what I consider to be matching shirt, suit, watch and cufflinks. Of course there should be shoes and belt to go with them, but that's more effort than I can be bothered with right now.

First up, dark brown suit, white shirt, bright orange tie, silver watch with dark brown aligator strap and silver cufflinks:



Next, dark grey suit with light blue and very dark turquoise pin stripes, very pale pink shirt, pink tie, silver and mother of pearl cufflinks, and silver watch with silver bracelet:

Fair enough. Like I said I didn't want to be cruel, but just saw the opportunity to have a little fun at your expense. Thanks for being a good sport, and, you are right -- the pictures you posted later are much better, in my opinion.

I feel as if I may have been mis..uh..quoted. I made my post in awe of the sheer quantity and I like a number of Daneel's ties, though not all of them are my cuppa.

Most of them are not good brands, I picked up a lot in China/HK, with a few from France and Italy. The silk is generally of good quality (ocassionally very good) but the construction is often weak. The joke someone made about Ebay was remarkably close to the mark, a lot of the ones that are from China were purchased via Ebay. The downside is the pictures can be misleading, particularly in terms of colour and luster, hence me giving away ties that didn't turn out as I expected (about 1 in 4).

You would have thought that being in London I would have no problem finding ties, but I find the deisgns boring and the prices expensive. This way, I pay about 25-30% of the price of a tie in London and get designs I like a lot more. The down side is they often don't last as long.

i like your two favorites daneel. they don't look quite as heavy as i would like but definitely the floral pattern is one that can work nicely.

Duncan Quinn makes some awesome ties in a similar floral pattern, or he'll do a cool fleur de lis, and he has a shop in London, i believe.

I quite like the green paisley, is it a Charvet as well? What is the maximal width of the blade?

No worries in the least. You can't expect to post pics here and expect everyone to like them. Other than the one with the fox head on it, these are a step down from some of the other patterns I have. I am working my way into normalcy with ties

The green paisley is a Polo Ralph Lauren made in Italy. Its max width is 3.5''.
