I just saw Field of Dreams again, and I have to admit I cried towards the end (again) when Costner goes "Dad, do you want to play catch?"

It got me wondering - what are the other big 'guy-cry' movies? I've only ever cried during Field of Dreams and K-9 (you know, when the dog gets shot - gimme a break, I was 12 when I saw the movie).

When I was in HS, I cried at Ordinary People because I wanted to save cute, troubled Timothy Hutton from his guilt-ridden life.

Men shouldn't cry, no matter what, especially over some movie.

Tears of happiness. I cried at ET. The first time when I was young because I was freaked out. The last time because I have become a sentimental dork.

I find myself crying at the end of Rocky 2, right at the moment where someone in the crowd says "we love ya, Rock" and he replies "and I love you too"....

I find the scene in LotR when Gandalf "dies," and they all realize that they are f*cked, to be quite moving. I also get a little flutter when Theoden gives his little death speech to Eowen. But neither makes me cry.

Brian's Song. I dare the most hardened, macho schmuck not to cry when Gale makes the speech at the banquet!

Isn't that the movie they referenced in Entourage?

In the Name of the Father, the scene in the prison just after Paddy dies. Quiet, spare, reserved, heart-wrenching.

Also the scence in Black Hawk Down when the kid with the wound dies in the building as Josh Hartnett and the other Ranger can't clamp the wound. That one really got me.
