View attachment 1104225 Scored Nettleton Shell Longwings recently for $60 off eBay in great condition View attachment 1104226 View attachment 1104227 After a wipedown,Bick 4 bath and VSC-I replaced the worn out heels with a Cat’s Paw(still need to add a few nails) View attachment 1104228 These are absolutely beautiful, the shell has a spectacular depth of color and is supple and less plasticy than others I’ve had -check out the lighter reddish color under the brogueing,an indicator of never being over polished.I was planning on following David’s restoration process from his last article but the shell feels so well maintained I think I’ll skip the Neatsfoot oil and just Sonicare the welts and..done! Very nice! I have to say after looking at various shell pics for almost a year on SF, no thread has made me want a pair of shell shoes than this thread. Vintage shell all the way!

These are the probably bison and probably made by McHale canadian Florsheims.

I'd guess you are right. I'm no exotics expert but it strikes me that the grain on those is very similar to the water bison Dack's I just posted.

You think vintage Canadian made shoes is a rabbit hole? Shell is a very deep hole. An abyss in fact. I'm at 5 pairs right now. I would not bat an eye if I end up with 100.

Yeah. Rabbit hole. I'm up to 9 pairs of shell. 3 longwings, 2 shortwings, 2 loafers and 2 split-toes.

Look what the postman brought today. Florsheim Golden Harvest ($38 shipped from Rusty Zipper). Check out the suicide heel on these. They are dirty but in great shape. They are also a width too narrow. I’m going to try and stretch them. Let me know what has worked for you all when it comes to stretching.

The second pair is 1968 Florsheim lightweights (from Etsy). I tried them on and they actually look pretty nice. They’re are also dirty but barely worn at all. I love monk straps and wingtips, so these have it all (sort of like peanut butter and chocolate - great on their own but better together).
