Random question ... what has been your guys experience with returns & Ralph Lauren?

I bought a pair of RRL jeans back in August from them. (washed once, wore them 1x/week MAX never doing any crazy labor/sports etc..babied them.

I was getting out of my truck the other day and I heard a loud rip....I look down and see that it started up by the fly and went like halfway down my leg.... complete blow out. I'll get a picture up later but this is bullshit. The shirt I bought from them at the same time had a button pop off the first time I wore it too.

What's the best way to go about getting a refund/credit/direct replacement?

Rios of Mercedes. From my experience with them, good construction and materials.

Unlike RM Williams, their products do not reek of glue when you receive them.

That was my hunch but the description didn't have the infamous "160 years of craftsmanship" so I wasn't 100%.

Why do you guys, knowing that the trousers tear and buttons will 99% pop out....still continue to buy RRL?

Are their stuff so good that you are willing to look pass this?

I was a longtime admirer of RRL and tried to replicate the look with lower priced brands...found some decent deals on their site so I took a shot. Won't make that mistake again. I dragged my old RL&Polo jeans through hell with landscaping/tree jobs after owning them for a few years, and they lasted 2-3 years in the field. 5 years longer than a pair of RRL that saw zero action.

The heavily washed stuff tears - but it would tear just the same if I had achieved the same wash through wearing. Granted that means I would have more wears per $, but also taken more time to get the same look.

The buttons falling off is an issue if you buy your garments tight. I've had Brioni, Kiton, Tom Ford, Zegna, Turnbull & Asser etc items that have had a loose button or have had a button come off prematurely. It happens.

Not one of my RRL shirts have had a button come off. But I get so much more 'enjoyment' (i.e. economic utility) from RRL than I do from other brands at the same price point that I'll keep going back and I expect that's probably the case for most of us.

Fixing a button that pops is a trivial thing to do people. It can’t be a deal breaker.

Agreed on dress shirts, but a loose flannel is something else. Especially after wearing for just a few hours. Granted, it’s a 5 minute repair but still the only shirt I’ve had fail me on day one.

My closet is predominantly RRL and I’ve had zero problems. I love the brand... the only difference beteeen now and when I first started collecting is that I’ve learned to be more selective with what I purchase.

To be fair, I've never experienced tears or rips and I (hate to admit this because it sounds gluttonous) have about 16 pairs of RRL jeans and over a dozen pairs of chinos/odd trousers. Some of these I've had going on 10 years, and still no tears or sign of flaws besides as I mentioned before, poorly fastened buttons which have meant sewing a button on maybe 6 or 7 times in the last 5 years (not on the same pair of pants mind you) or so. That is not enough to put me off the brand given how well the product is made (design, fit, finish and raw materials) although you might disagree..

Gotta concur with most here. I've got quite a few pairs of denim and a few pants. In all the years only had a problem with one pair. Otherwise, so far so good. No tears, no popped buttons.

I'm in the same boat as gnatty8 with a similar number of jeans/pants. No rips or tears. Just a few poorly sewn buttons.

I bought a pair of RRL raw denim back in 2010 and it was literally the only pair of jeans I wore or felt I needed. The pair has had zero structural flaws and I couldn't be more pleased with em.
