That deck would suck to keep clear of snow.

Good point. Plus, how do people stay warm in these places? Open-plan living with double- or triple-height ceilings and lots of glass without curtains must be a pain to keep warm when it's -15C (5F) outside.

You don’t worry about it because you’re only there in the summer and fall.

And one year you come back and the deck is a pile of rubble next to the house.

Is there an architectural abominations thread?

Somebody paid a lot of money for a architect designed modernist mansion, then decorated it like it's Tony Montana's.

(I'm guessing this was a compromise between husband and wife. You give me my modernist house, you can decorate it however you want.)

They’d never lived in or seen a “modern” home, and they hired the wrong decorator.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. You all talk about how modernism goes with anything: it is versatile. /S

I am not a big fan of recessed lights, and that kitchen is a good example. There are all those pucks all over the ceiling in a seemingly haphazard way.

It's hard to pick the worst element in that tragedy, but ultimately I land on the ceiling fans in the bedrooms.
