Anybody know why a lot of retailers have Margiela GATs at 2 different price points? For example:

These are listed at $495 USD

These are listed at $415 USD

there is no discernible difference to me and the descriptions are basically the same, but different product and different price.

i didn't know this brand until now but these loafers run the full range, from "exactly the problem i'm talking about" to "ok fine" to "so bold only tyler the creator can pull them off"
Surprised you hadn't heard of them. They're super popular. I admit, theres not really one of their designs that is super appealing to me. Maybe the leopard print pennies, but it's hard to spend $300 on a shoe I would wear twice and then be bored of.

I was gifted this Gucci Straw hat straight from Gucci and man what a disappointment. The straws literally broke as I grabbed the crown to put it on my head didn’t even apply pressure

hat looked great, just the quality was flea market level which was surprising

Still surprised there is no Visvim flagship/major brand partner in nyc.
I’ve been surprised by that too. I’ve seen several NYC stores test it out over the years, but it seems none have had enough success to continue or expand their buy.

In 2017, Visvim did a pop-up at 180 the Store in Tribeca. They were there for ~3 months, probably testing if an NYC location made sense. Since nothing ever came from it, I would guess there wasn’t a strong enough demand.

180 the store has a very exciting brand list but very disappointing upon visit. Most of the rare brands you'd only see a t-shirt or two and most of the store stock is cdg play/shirt that you can find elsewhere. I guess it makes sense since most of the customer base that I've seen is tribeca design moms.

Would also like to see an Evan Kinori in nyc, but not holding my breath is since no city other than LA has a dedicated store and CHCM usually has a good buy.

Ever feel like you are walking that fine line between looking stylish and old guy trying too hard to look stylish?

Every time I look at or dabble in streetwear, I think to myself "you're trying too hard." Workwear fits the middle age white guy vibe but it gets one note after a while. I guess I just want to mix things up a bit without looking like an idiot.

End rant.

Lots of us are there. I’m liking DBF as their stuff is fairly subtle yet really neat at the same time. At least to me. 🤓

Monochrome basics and clear acetate glasses look low-key hip on older dudes.

You can wear whatever you want and chances are (a) no one actually will think you look like an idiot, (b) you will probably look good (you spend time here and I'm sure you have a more developed taste than most).

Your eye is formatted to see you in specific clothes, styles and proportions. You may look strange to yourself (and to people who only know you dressed a certain way) when you step out of that comfort zone but it's temporary as you eye adjusts to a wider range of dress. And as people around you also adjust to your expanded style range, it will be as if you've always worn this stuff.

You know I was super disappointed with 180 when I looked at their brand lists. Thought it would be super cool but frankly it was pretty boring

Im surprised to find about Visvim in NYC. I always assumed it would be a super loved brand out there. That clean Americana vibe feels sorta NYC as much as it feel LA. I dislike most of Visvim though
