Oh. Yeah. So.

I have both those coats, though my impression of them is a bit different now. The cotton corduroy colors are super rich and deep, and honestly it's just cut better. It's longer and roomier for the same size, and its movement is more flowy when you walk. I've come to prefer it quite a bit to the brown Harris Tweed one. I have a medium in both of those.

The black they ran back a couple seasons ago when I wrote about it. I didn't realize they were going to do the black for multiple seasons, though, and I'm also fairly sure it's a bit cheaper this year surprisingly.

I was kinda wanting to try the black/grey in a size up as I already have brown patchwork and the size/length of the medium brown I own bothers me a little (it's totally fine, I just wanted bigger). I gave up on the idea though as I already owned some versions of these and they used to be so hard to come by (the brown is extremely rare still I believe) so it wasn’t a priority at all. Then I was randomly at Totem Brand store minding my own business the other day and I saw one black/grey Harris Tweed patchwork coat on the rack in large (a size up from my usual JP size). It was the only coat. Phil, the owner, said they just got them and already sold out everything else. What am I gonna do, not try it on?

Then I had to have a long text conversation with my wife about why I needed to get this.

So I have a brown medium patchwork Harris Tweed if anyone is interested.

I usually avoid coats because of short people problems, but ugh I still get tempted from time to time.

I'm still trying to find the grey patchwork pants they ran 2-3 years ago in Size M.

I don't get the appeal with the patchwork stuff. Seems really roundabout to cut up a bunch of fabrics to make a new fabric. Also dislike the fake boro patched stuff.

Agree fake Boro is a weird thing. Went to a talk about Boro from a guy who was a lead designer for Kapital a number of years ago. He described the tension of doing a bunch Boro of work with with Luis Vuitton for a season. Both the practical side, as they needed to figure out how to do so much work on top of their own production, and the more philosophical of what it meant to do so. I recall, he seemed to come down to the idea that bringing more awareness of the craft and history of Boro was, in the end, a good thing - even if it was really an approximation or a tribute. If it's not from Hokaido, it's just sparkling denim repair.

Fake boro, fake patchwork, stuff with fake fur, fake sashiko, fake patina leather jackets, fake distressed jeans, fake dirty sneakers, fake moth hole knit sweaters, fake native American jewelry, fake washed denim stuff, fake old vintage military surplus, fake gold jewelery, fake western belts...

I love it. Looks awesome.

Anyone ever buy anything from beige habilleur? Is it the norm not to get any tracking information, and no response to an inquiry? Are they sending stuff by post (to US) and it shows up when it shows up?

Did you ever get the stuff you ordered from Beige? Planning to place an order soon. I sent a basic question a few weeks back with no response at all.

I think it was discussed either here or in another thread but they have delays. A friend of mine is also waiting on an order from first week of December.
