I won't but they did request the cameras stay home. I think they're pretty media savvy.

Well, that was bloody good fun.

Two Borders, a Cairn, a Norfolk, mixed breed and a Patterdale. Set up on each end of an alley with a large pile oh garbage bags in the middle. Sent the Cairn in to flush and all of a sudden the the alley exploded with rats. The Borders were expert killers and quickly grabbed and shook the rats to death. The Patterdale was a close second in ability though he was harder to pull off a dead rat.

12 minutes later the alley was clear and 18 rats were laid out.

On to the next alley.

Having recently moved and having infinitely more space inside and out, I have been thinking about getting another dog. We currently have a English Cocker Spaniel. I love the breed and would have no qualms about getting another. However, I have been looking at bigger dogs recently, like a Gordon Setter. The ones I have met and spent time with were all great dogs. The breed profile seems to really compliment the Engie we have now and provides other important characteristics.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Interesting. I should have thought the Patterdale would have been the best killer. Nice to see AKC dogs retaining such good working ability.

Patt was good. Owner was too hyped up to let jus dog work.

Borders were both akc show lines but serious workers. They tore into those rats, and a quick squeal, a violent shake and it was all over. Always liked that breed so it was good to see.

The Cairn was a solid flusher but didn't have the speed to catch.

I can't see why any god loving New Yorker would ever oppose this. There was one the street in midday in midtown that was larger than many peoples dogs. I wonder how many we walk by everyday and never notice....

I think I've only known one. Seemed like a decent dog. Sorry I can't help more.

They say that no matter where you are in the city you're never more that 30' away from a rat. People were very helpful in pointing out possible locations.

SS, your kid hasn't had contact with your dog?

dog question: a few weeks ago my dog (23 lb beagle) was bit by a lab. the wound healed up fine, the dog's owner apologized (some ******* marsupial who shouldn't own a dog), but ever since my dog has been really skittish about dogs in the street - she's not openly aggressive, but very wary, sometimes even going so far as barking and whining when a dog approaches her. any tips? or does she just need time?
