You can't compare J. Crew to RRL, not even close to being in the same bracket.
kind of agree that fit is wildly inconsistent when it comes to the Crew, with that said the 484 cut is pretty damn slim
It's not flimsy. It's definitely warm but it's not so thick/warm that it's gonna protect you from real cold all on its own. Where I live the coldest it gets during the day time is about 55 degrees in the winter, this is perfect for that.let me know how the deck jacket works out. I've been wanting to order it but am afraid it's flimsy
... is flimsy even a word

It's not as dark as the picture shows - it's a rather terrible picture actually. It's much lighter than the picture shows and has small flecks of white running through it, the buttons are also a more ivory color. The fit is also much looser than the picture, I'm not a big guy but this thing is pretty frumpy. The picture made it seem like it had more of a slim fit, that is not the case. How is the Wallace and Barnes cable cardigan? is the color nice?
I checked the site and I don't see a x-small. Does that just not come in x-small?

OK-I clearly have to 'retry' the 484 pant, but judging from how they and the denim looks when I hold them up in front of me in store, they are nowhere near something like APC PS (a line from which J. Crew has stolen in a recent catalogue- "The New Standard" in denim," it reads).I usually size up for the 484 fit. I'm a 30/32 normally, including their urban slim, but size to a 31/32 when it comes to 484. If you feel it's too tight, the next waist size up actually ends up looking great.
I was trying to compare size and fit more than washed and raw denim.not sure how fair it is to compare raw denim with washed denim. From a marketing standpoint you might have an argument, but from a product one they're two completely different beasts
Gonna have to disagree. It's not as dark as the picture shows - it's a rather terrible picture actually. I think that just means they're out. I got mine in an extra small.
I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow, my camera is terrible at night time.
