kind of agree that fit is wildly inconsistent when it comes to the Crew, with that said the 484 cut is pretty damn slim

Yeah it is slim, which I like. I'm gonna try to give my shirt a hot wash and dry it on high heat, see if I can't shrink this baby up.

You can't compare J. Crew to RRL, not even close to being in the same bracket.

No one is comparing, i have tons of RRL but I just want a pair of grays, just checked and they're out... So I wanted to see how the j crew chinos are...

i had a pair of 484 chinos last year but gave them away after a few wears. it u have thick legs they are pretty tight, not to mention the rise is horrible IMO. no breathing room for the family jewels.

let me know how the deck jacket works out. I've been wanting to order it but am afraid it's flimsy
... is flimsy even a word
It's not flimsy. It's definitely warm but it's not so thick/warm that it's gonna protect you from real cold all on its own. Where I live the coldest it gets during the day time is about 55 degrees in the winter, this is perfect for that.

How is the Wallace and Barnes cable cardigan? is the color nice?

I checked the site and I don't see a x-small. Does that just not come in x-small?

It's not as dark as the picture shows - it's a rather terrible picture actually. It's much lighter than the picture shows and has small flecks of white running through it, the buttons are also a more ivory color. The fit is also much looser than the picture, I'm not a big guy but this thing is pretty frumpy. The picture made it seem like it had more of a slim fit, that is not the case.

I think that just means they're out. I got mine in an extra small.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow, my camera is terrible at night time.

+1. I was surprised at how slim they were. Leg openings are only around 7".

As a whole, their pictures leave much to be desired. The actual products look much better in person.

I usually size up for the 484 fit. I'm a 30/32 normally, including their urban slim, but size to a 31/32 when it comes to 484. If you feel it's too tight, the next waist size up actually ends up looking great.

OK-I clearly have to 'retry' the 484 pant, but judging from how they and the denim looks when I hold them up in front of me in store, they are nowhere near something like APC PS (a line from which J. Crew has stolen in a recent catalogue- "The New Standard" in denim," it reads).

not sure how fair it is to compare raw denim with washed denim. From a marketing standpoint you might have an argument, but from a product one they're two completely different beasts

I was trying to compare size and fit more than washed and raw denim.

Keep in mind that the 484s, being cotton, will stretch out a bit. As slim as they feel the first 1-2 wears is usually not how they'll feel after that. Something to consider, at least.

Gonna have to disagree.

The photo is pretty spot on. I also don't see specks of white at all on my sweater.

The fit is pretty spot on as well, perfect for a henley/button-up underneath without the sweater being too tight.
