Anybody have this woodsman tartan in salsa? If so, what do you think? Soft shirt? Nice color? Is it as vivid in person as it is in the pic? I like the color, but the red looks a little too overbearing.

really like the sueded fleece crewneck. it's pretty comfortable and cut "athletic" similar to polo's sweater, of course you're not gonna get the loop-wheeled details etc. that you'd get out of something by buzz rickson or left field but i've pretty much lived in it all weekend and rocked a buttondown collar underneath. i think that kind of collar works best with this type of thing -- even if jack disagrees. this particular sweater definitely is not meant to be worn on a breezy day jog, so why treat it as such?

Any thoughts?

That is a beautiful coat! Glad that you decided to pick it up. I also bought a Sears coat at a thrift shop - my girlfriend made me buy it. Mine is circa-1970, probably, and I don't think it is as nice as yours. But definitely of very high quality. I think I had to pay something like $18 for it; it was double the going price of $9, because it has faux fur on the collar. I might post some pics in a few weeks when I get home.

You are right - even Sears had better quality than most clothing stores today.

I went nuts over this when I saw it in the store. I love it. Am wearing today, in fact, w/ some grey cords. It's fairly soft, and yeh, it's vivid. The color has a lot of pop. No, not overbearing.

I think the combination of colors in this tartan make the shirt look great. I can't wait to pick up one of these once they go on sale..

I know its a little early but anyone think J.Crew will have some good sales for Black Friday? Or is it just wishful thinking because I'm naive haha.

I have this baby as well. My fave shirt purchase of the fall.

I usually wear a L but I bought an XS just to feel more at home here.

Saw those in the store and wasn't keen on them. I want the five-pocket cords. I decided to take my Levis 559 cords (5-pocket relaxed straight) out of storage from a few years back, and I've decided I can make these work. The fit is not as slim as the j. crew vintage straight, but I find that if I crimp or cuff the hem just a little, they're really pretty good, especially w/ desert boots and a tucked in button-down. I've got these in navy, medium brown, and grey.

My store has the burgandy but not the marine. I'd grab the marine is a second. The burgandy scares me though.

In a moment of insanity, I bought Orange and baby blue cords from Gap in 2001. They were timeless and classic. For 3 weeks.

Ha ha, yah, the SA goes, "Hey try these on and see if you can rock this color." Anytime an SA has to say something like to sell me something I see a flag go up.
